The search for an item girl continues for filmmaker Aamir Khan. Actress Malaika Arora-Khan, who was last tipped to do the item number in the forthcoming film that stars actor Imran Khan in the lead, now confirms that she is not doing the item song. According to sources, the filmmakers were sure of getting Katrina Kaif to do an item number for the film but she backed out citing date issues. “Everybody wanted Katrina Kaif to do the number but she couldn’t it as she’s busy shooting,” says a source.
The actress in an earlier interview had evinced interest in doing an item number for Aamir, but said she was not doing an item number for the Imran starrer.Some,however, believe that the real reason for her not doing the number is that she was not comfortable dancing for Imran,who’s much junior to her in the industry. But Aamir, apparently, is still trying to rope in Katrina as the item girl.
The next person in line was Deepika Padukone but the project didn’t work out there too. “Deepika couldn’t do the number because she was shooting for Desi Boyz in London and the dates could not be worked out. In any case, the Dum Maaro Dum item song with Deepika wasn’t exactly popular so nobody pushed their luck on this front,” says a source.
Then it was time for the filmmakers to try for a proper item girl and reportedly the numero uno choice was Malaika Arora-Khan who made the nation sway to the 'Munni' tune. But it seems that things are not working out in this case too.
“I am not doing any item song for the film. I don’t think I have had any meetings with anybody regarding the song. I would have been happy to be in such a project but I am not there in it,” says Malaika.Right now, the song is ready, the choreographers are ready and Imran Khan is ready too… but there’s no item girl. Anyone interested?
